sadly there are more cons than pros with this device and the integration that comes with it when it comes to Apple Homekit and the Kwikset iOS app. Pros: – best looking Apple Homekit Lock Cons: – no keyless version – no other options outside of Kwikset’s own iOS app, no HomeKit features or options whatsoever – Kwikset app & lock’s lowest auto-lock is 30 seconds while Yale and Schlage is 15 and less – Kwikset iOS app has a 1.7-star rating on the app store, app won’t tell you who unlocked it, will just tell you the generic notification that the “front door” just got unlocked, even if you set the name and code to a specific person. – touch screen won’t allow you to press in the numbers too quickly or it won’t register and you’ll have to re-enter the numbers again (must allow a quarter to half-second delay before proceeding to enter the next number in between)
The installation process was easy. And the lock works great when I use it by manually opening and closing with the keypad.
However, we have a big problem where if we use the home kit app to lock the door it says “jammed” it only happens when using the home app.
This is the main reason we bought the lock was to use it with HomeKit so this is very disappointing.
